Following our Annual General Meeting held on October 29, 2009, we are pleased to welcome the 2009-2010 Board of Directors for the Georgian Triangle Development Institute.SHELLEY Hensel, President Shelley Hensel is the Senior Project Manager at Hensel Design Group. With wide-ranging experience in project management in the Housing and Land Development sector, Shelley has assisted numerous public, private and industry clients in achieving their development aspirations. Shelley has worked with a variety of multi-disciplinary consultant teams and she is the primary liaison with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies. As a Project Manager/Urban Designer, Shelley works with Project Coordinators and is responsible for management of multi-disciplinary development-related projects. Her work often encompasses applications for sustainability principles in new communities, and capabilities in sustainability planning and design have been enhanced by her ISO certification in Greenhouse Gas Emission Auditing. Building a healthy, sustainable community both through her work and volunteerism is very important to Shelley. She has been a member of the Collingwood Trails Network Committee as well as the Town of Collingwood’s Sign By-Law, LACAC and Vision 2020 Committees. Shelley also served as Vice-President of the Collingwood Chamber of Commerce. Shelley has been a GTDI member and Board member for a number of years and she is now serving as President. CHRISTOPHER CROZIER, P.ENG., Past President As Principal and founder of C.F. Crozier & Associates, Chris Crozier oversees the full operation of this professional engineering firm specializing in private sector land development. A Professional Engineer with a diverse senior project portfolio and a twenty-year specialty in storm water management engineering, Chris brings a depth of experience to the often complex approval process involved in the development industry.Chris, his wife, Lisa, and their five children reside in Collingwood, where they regularly enjoy such family activities as cycling, hockey and skiing. Chris’ strong commitment to the local community in evidenced by his participation in municipal committees and professional organizations and C.F. Crozier & Associates’ support of various local sports and community groups. Chris often remarks to friends and colleagues how fortunate he feels to live and to operate a business in such a thriving and exciting part of Ontario. Chris has served on the Board of Directors in various capacities since 2004. KRISTINE LOFT, Vice-President Kristine Loft joined The Jones Consulting Group Ltd. in 2006, where she serves as Land Use Planner and Branch Manager. Kristine’s previous work history includes provision of municipal and upper tier planning services with the County of Grey, local planning with several local municipalities as well as private consulting. Kristine has extensive experience in project management, policy preparation and facilitation of public consultation as well as the preparation of Official Plans, Zoning By-laws and provision of planning services to local municipalities. Kristine also has significant experience in providing expert testimony before the Ontario Municipal Board on behalf of private clients as well as local and upper tier municipalities. With a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Urban and Regional Planning from Ryerson Polytechnical University in Toronto, Kristine is a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) and a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP). Kristine enjoys a busy home life with husband Blake, daughter Rylie and son Rhys. As a family, they enjoy skiing and après ski as members of the Toronto Ski Club and Kristine enjoys spending time with friends and discussing books with her book club. Kristine is currently in her thrid term as a GTDI Board Member and she also Chaired the 2007 and 2008 Annual GTDI Conferences. DAN MILLER, P. ENG., Secretary-Treasurer Dan Miller, P.Eng. is a professional engineer with R.J. Burnside & Associates specializing in private sector land development and golf course services. Dan also provides services to some of local municipalities, including peer reviews and master drainage studies.After growing up in Newmarket area and working for ten years at several land development consulting firms within the Toronto area, Dan and his wife relocated to the Georgian Triangle area in 2004 to greater enjoy outdoor activities such as skiing, mountain biking and water sports to balance out a hard day at work. While maintaining many of his contacts from the City, Dan enjoys the friendliness and openness of doing business in the Georgian Bay region. Dan is currently enjoying his third one-year term as GTDI Secretary-Treasurer and he has been a GTDI member since 2004. COLIN TRAVIS, Director Colin Travis is one of the founding members of the Georgian Triangle Development Institute and as a Past President and member of several working committees, Colin has maintained a fine balance between contributions to the Institute and building his consulting practice. Colin incorporated Travis & Associates Inc in 2002 and counts many major and not so major land developments and proposals as part of his extensive client listing. His current planning consulting practice leverages several earlier years as a Town Planner and over ten years’ experience in managing private developments, including Blue Mountain Resort and Intrawest. In addition to his involvement with the Georgian Triangle Development Institute, Colin has been an active participant on several local advisory committees dealing with such diverse issues as affordable housing, trails and economic development. Andrew Hill is a real estate development professional with over 25 years experience across Canada and in the US. From 1999 until 2005, Andrew worked to establish the new Blue Mountain Village and resort residential developments, overseeing all Collingwood real projects initiated by Intrawest during that period. Andrew is now managing new hotel development as well as various hotel renovation and conversions projects across Canada for Starwood Hotels & Resorts. Andrew’s position with Starwood requires a great deal of travel but, to balance this he also works from a home based office in The Blue Mountains. As Andrew’s work doesn’t currently include any projects in the Georgian Triangle, his membership in GTDI and involvement as a director helps fill his desire to stay connected and contribute to the issues of GTDI and the future of the Georgian Triangle. |
